Power Recliner Replacement Switch

Power recliners are known for their optimal level of comfort and the extra features and functionalities they come with. Power recliners are also considered stronger than manual recliners because their frame structure is made of metal. But what if you bought a power recliner to enjoy all its features, only to realize that its switch has broken? That would be a real bummer because if the switch is not working, there will be no power, and when there is no power, you will not be able to enjoy its functions and optimal comfort levels. But fret not because it is very easy to fix a power recliner replacement switch.

If you want to know how you can replace your power recliner’s switch in less than 30 minutes, then keep reading! Follow all the steps carefully to enjoy your recliner experience in little to no time.

Replacing the power recliner switch

The following steps will guide you on how you can fix your power recliner replacement switch with ease. The method is divided into sections, so they are easier to understand.

Step 1

Step 1 is the most important in replacing your recliner’s switch. Turn off all power switches of the recliner and unplug any plugged wires or cables. This step is important because it will protect you from any safety hazard while replacing the switch. If your recliner has a battery, you need to cut the power supply to it as well.

Step 2

In this step, you will need to move your recliner to an open space or working area, so there is enough room to work on it and lean it in different positions as required. If the recliner is too heavy for you, please take an adult friend’s help.

Step 3

Next, locate the round power switch on your recliner. The round power switch can be found on one of the sides of the recliner. Once you have located this switch, apply pressure to it by pushing and then turning the switch’s cover in an anti-clockwise direction to remove it. When you remove the cover, you will be able to see the screws that were holding this round switch to the recliner’s housing for the switch.

Step 4

You will need a screwdriver or a power drill to unscrew the bolts in this step. Ensure taking the needed safety precautions and keeping all tools and parts out of the reach of children. Use either the screwdriver or the power drill to unscrew all four bolts.

Step 5

You will now need to push the recliner forward so you can access its motor and expose the prong plug at one end of the power cable. If you need help pushing it forward, please call an adult partner or friend to help you.

Step 6

You will need to unplug the prong plug from its place by pulling it away from its connector to the motor. Next, pull the power switch whose screws you removed earlier in step 4. You are removing the power switch to replace it with a new one. Grab your new recliner power switch replacement and place it in position inside the power switch housing. Put all the screws back using your screwdriver and put the cover you removed earlier in step 3 over the power switch housing.

Put your recliner in its upright position to test its functionality. Ensure that your recliner is now fully functional and performing as expected. If the problem persists, you can contact a repair technician to investigate the issue.

Conclusion

There is no need to worry if your power recliner suddenly stops working even after plugging all cables correctly and knowing power is being supplied to it. The reason for your problem probably lies in your recliner’s faulty power switch. You can easily get a power recliner replacement switch from any hardware store and fix it in little to no time!
