Repairing lazy boy recliner footrest mechanism

It is not very good when your footrest starts to malfunction. In this section, I will provide you with a cohesive guide on how to solve your problem using essential tools. Let’s get started!

I recommend you start out by extending your armchair forward and flipping it forward. This should help you to see the screws of the footrest. After that, find where the bracket connects the footrest to your recliner. You should see if any screws are missing, loose, or just damaged.

Besides, check out the condition of the crew holes. I recommend you change them if they look worn out. New screws mustn’t be too long, and you can damage the footrest. Your next step will be to tighten the loose screws using the screwdriver. I recommend you replace the screws if you have problems with this process.

The last thing you want to do is check whether the footrest moves up and down smoothly. If not, look for the reason why it happens. The most common one is damage to the wire. In this case, you need to cut out the damaged part of the wire and connect the ends using electrical tape.

In conclusion, that is all you need to do to fix your broken footrest. This process does not take much time and effort. However, if you have any problems with it, I recommend you contact a professional.

  • I need a hand wand assembly for a gold luxury-lift power recliner. The hand wand controls the motor lifting the recliner and also massage and heater. This has an 8 pin plug. The Lazy Boy manufacture part number is 75000242-02. Lazy boy does not have any replacement parts for this recliner that was purchased in 2014. Without the hand wand the chair is worthless since lift is required to help my husband get up out of a chair.

Lazy boy told me I’d just have to start searching and I found your listing. I hope you are able to assist me in finding this part. I have pictures of the hand wand which shows where we’ve tried to repair the coily wire that goes into hand wand. Also have a picture from the brochure on the chair. I don’t see anywhere in this comment where I can attach those pics.

Would really appreciate any help you can give on this search for a replacement wand for this chair.
